Clematis 'Princess Diana'

The masses of cherry pink upward facing tulips and robust growth make this one of the best clematis introduced in the 20th century. Plant in sun or semi-shade and hard prune in spring for best results.

Raised by Barry Fretwell in 1984 and called C. texensis 'Princess of Wales' there was an immediate fuss over the name (there already was a Clematis 'Princess of Wales') the end result was the plant being renamed Clematis 'Princess Diana' by Wim Snoeijer in 1996 , I am sure the fuss slowed down the introduction of this wonderful plant.
