Clematis 'Wada's Primrose'

Large cream (not yellow!) flowers May June and again in September. Slightly scented of citrus (others have said primroses!) on a warm day. Do try and place it out of strong sun so as to protect the delicate colour of the flowers. Light prune only, in the spring.

Although introduced to the UK in 1965 by Koichiro Wada as Clematis 'Wada's Primrose', it is thought to have been introduced to Japan in 1933 from Manchuria.
