Araujia sericifera

A vigorous evergreen twining climber with scented white and pink flowers all summer. The foliage is a light gray green and the plant can be kept back by pruning (I have seen it used as a hedge) After a long hot summer large green pod like fruits are carried. Sometimes referred to as the cruel plant due to the moths that pollinate it being held onto by the flowers and only being released the following day. Only suitable for sunny spots in warmer counties or cold conservatory where the scent is more noticeable. (min -4c)
Araujia sericifera was introduced from South America in 1830 and given an A.M. in 1975
