Berberidopsis corallina

Berberidopsis corallina is an evergreen climber that looks charming when grown through conifers and other evergreen shrubs. The flowers are deep coral red and borne in little bunches in summer. Best results are obtained if the soil is light and neutral to acid and it is sited in a sheltered shady position, that does not get too dry. It is actually tougher than some sources indicate and has remained undamaged here at -10c
Introduced by Richard Pearce from Chile in 1862
