Jasminum grandiflorumNot to be confused with Jasminum officinale 'Affine' the large flowered form of the hardy white Jasmine officinale. Jasminum grandiflorum is a slender, long stemmed, evergreen, tender, climber, with very large and highly scented white flowers, even in a small pot they are 2" (5cm) across. For me under cold greenhouse conditions this flowers during the cooler winter months. It is this plant which is used in the perfume industry for the extraction of essential oils, it is widely grown around De Grasse and this name is often used for it. Not an easy plant to grow in the cooler damper UK climate |
