Lardizabala biternata Related to the Akebia and Holboellia (Stauntonia) this large glossy leaved evergreen comes from Chile, it was introduced in around 1844, not often seen due it being slightly tender and winter flowering, the flowers are chocolate purple and often appear black, they are followed by edible fruits, best on a warm wall in sun or partial shade. A very impressive plant when growing well, Well worth its space just for the wonderful glossy foliage.
