Parthenocissus quinquefoliaParthenocissus quinquifolia is the true "Virginia creeper" and although it self clings with adhesive pads on its tendrils, it climbs trees a lot better than walls, where the weight of it tends to tear it off. The autumn colours of the leaves are amongst the brightest reds and of course it is bone hardy. Can be grown in sun or shade and is good in coastal locations. Introduced from the Eastern United States in 1629 but not receiving its A.G.M. until 1969 |
