Periploca graeca

This twiner has handsome leaves and bunches of small scented brown purple flowers which in their turn become large pods, in Autumn these split open to reveal the silky seeds within - hence its common name "Silk Vine" It is perfectly hardy, doing best in a sunny spot. Periploca graeca comes from southern Europe/Balkans and was introduced to the UK around 1597
