Plumbago auriculata 'Alba'
An all white form of
the Blue Plumbago, usually grouped with climbers, it in fact has
no climbing method and grows either through other plants for
support or as self supporting thickets. The lovely white flowers
are produced from summer on, its a plant that benefits from
winter protection (min -1c) and a sunny spot. Mine also responds
well to hard pruning and re potting in the spring. Beware of the
sticky seeds behind the flowers - they get everywhere!
Originally from Southern Africa the blue form has long been grown
in the UK where it was placed under thatch on roofs to ward off
lightening!
