Trachelospermum jasminoides 'Japonicum'
(syn T. majus)

A vigorous evergreen self-clinging climber the white very scented flowers are carried in small bunches in the summer, not as tough as T. asiaticum so give it a warm wall (min -4c). the flowers are bigger and whiter than asiaticum. Also worth growing as a conservatory plant. It used to be classed as a separate species but is now regarded as a large vigorous form of the type. Introduced by Fortune in 1844 from southern China.
