Rosa 'William Lobb'

This is a tall shrub rather than a climber or rambler, but it makes a good choice for a low climber. sometimes called "Old Velvet" it is a moss rose (has furry growth like moss on stems and buds) has beautiful Crimson purple flowers in summer which are highly scented, the stems can be reduced after flowering to keep it tidy. Often suckers from the base, it is hardy and vigorous, not suffering from the normal rose ailments.

Raised by Laffay of France in 1855
