Ficus carica

Ficus carica is the edible fig tree, left to its own devices it would be very large so traditionally it has its roots restricted which keeps it within bounds and increases cropping, we grow a number of different varieties here and get good crops of all of them. Although deciduous it also has large decorative leaves  and is quick growing.

Hardy throughout the UK but only crops where summers are of decent length, if intending to grow in pots make sure that they dont dry out (or the fruit will drop off) and protect the roots in the pot during winter
