Eriobotrya japonica - Loquat or Japanese Medlar

Eriobotrya japonica is a small evergreen tree which will produce strongly fragrant clusters of flowers late in the year in the UK, the small tasty yellow/orange fruits ripen during the following year, needs a good year to produce ripe fruit but it has attractive leaves and makes a good ornamental addition that can be kept to a given size and shape by pruning. it has been grown in the UK since 1787
