Eucomis pole avensii

Summer flowering bulbs which are late into growth (late May) Soon produce handsome clumps of leaves and flower spike topped with a rosette of leaves (about 1.2M, 4' tall). The flower spike is creamy white and green, long lasting from late June to November. Bulbs can be grown outside in the ground if below the frost line and drainage is reasonable, heavy feeding is beneficial. This Eucomis is the most difficult to get to flower regularly, Large bulbs and an early start to the season are the way to go, so may be best pot grown and started under glass.
