 Ageratina (Eupatorium) ligustrina

This evergreen shrub is sometimes known as the "Incense Bush" because of the aromatic scent given off by the foliage on sunny days all year and the same scent is given off by the flat heads of white flowers in late Summer and Autumn. The flowers are hugely popular with lots of butterfly species. If grown where space is restricted it can be hard pruned each year. Coming originally from Mexico it arrived in the UK around 1867 (min -11c although it will lose some of its leaves below -3c) Eupatorium ligustrinium is wonderful planted near a sitting area where you can enjoy both the butterflies and all year round scent.
