Lobelia
tupa
You would have to
look closely at this to realize it was a Lobelia, Lobelia tupa is
5 feet high and 3 feet across with wonderful felty light green
leaves, the red flowers appear on giant spikes all summer and
look suitably exotic. Ok outside in the south and west of the UK
(min -8c with good drainage), it is also good in pots and makes
an excellent patio plant. Introduced from Chile in 1824. Unlike
many lobelia species this one does not get eaten by slugs and
snails.
