P. 'Madam Nonin'
Gets called all sorts of things this! It is
a strong growing plant with strongly scented leaves (difficult to
describe the scent) It appears to be some sort of sport from
patens unique whose red colour is very similar(Root cuttings from
Madam Nonin produce a Patens Unique like plant), Madam Nonin
however has crimped and crinkled petals giving the flowers and
"old velvet" look.
P. papillionaceum
This is a very large species, I have to
throw out plants after 8 feet! the leaves are rounded and up to
18 inches across, will sometimes go through the winter outdoors
as it has tough woody stems, the flowers have only two petals at
the top which look like wings- hence its name which means "Like
a butterfly" Its main claim to fame is the strongly scented
leaves seem to be leathal to white fly!!
P. 'Patons Unique'

with darker markings
