Bignonia capreolata 'Dragon Lady'

Bignonia capreolata is an evergreen climber that is both robust and rampant in growth, it makes an ideal screening plant in the milder half of the UK for the rest a wall would help keep it evergreen. Related to Campsis radicans and  from the same south eastern part of the USA it flowers earlier in the season. the cultivar Dragon Lady has much redder flowers than the species but it also flowers for longer, like the species It seems perfectly hardy in the UK climate and is more reliable in flowering than Campsis. We have however found it pays to give it some shelter as it is slower growing than the straight species.
