Lonicera x brownii

Lonicera x brownii is usually seen as the clone 'Dropmore Scarlet' and is the result of a cross between L. hirsuta and L. sempervirens (which it resembles) the chief advantage to growing this over Lonicera sempervirens is that it is hardier and flowers for longer. The flowers which are orange red and NOT scented, are pollinated by hummingbirds (hence the colour but no scent!) it flowers June to October and is a very showy climber. Best sited out of full sun as in sun it can be plagued by aphids and mildew.
