Clematis 'Monte Cassino'

From Poland this lovely dark velvety red cultivar is free flowering on its new growth from July to September, so can be hard pruned in spring. Hardy but avoid cold aspects as flowering will not be as good.

Raised by brother Stefan Franczak of Poland and named Clematis 'Monte Cassino' to commemorate the hard won victory of the Polish army at Monte Cassino during WW2. Introduced to the UK by Jim Fisk in 1990, this is a stunning plant in flower.
